Choosing Care With Confidence
There is no single care option that is right for everyone. The right support depends on the person's needs, preferences, home situation and how much help they require
01
What is home care?
Home care is professional support provided in a person's own home. It can range from help with everyday routines to more regular personal care, overnight support or live-in care.

03
What should I look for in a home care provider?
Consider whether the provider is appropriately registered, how they assess and plan care, how staff are recruited and supported, how concerns are handled, how care is reviewed and whether communication feels clear and respectful.
02
Visiting care or live-in care?
Visiting care provides support at agreed times during the day or week. Live-in care provides more continuous support from a care worker staying in the home. Which is appropriate depends on individual circumstances and assessment.
04
What happens during a care assessment?
The assessment helps the provider understand the person's needs, abilities, routines, preferences, home environment and risks. It forms the basis of the care plan.
